Morning Vows, Autumn Elegance
by Carolyn Hartnett
On the crisp, fall morning of our wedding, I awoke before dawn at Hotel Metro after a restless night’s sleep. Our day was finally here, and I hoped it would be everything we had dreamt of. While my stylist braided my hair, I nervously rehearsed my vows, praying I would get them right. My mom joined the bridesmaids in a flurry of necklace clasping, shoe buckling, and zipping up my dress, and then it was time.
Our wedding was a combination of elegance and personal touches. I designed the invitations, menus and place cards. My mom assisted with numerous projects too, like a handmade ring-bearer pillow and children’s coloring books. Brendan’s family also contributed to the festivities and provided us with many favors; guests enjoyed a special treat of artisan caramels handmade by his aunt, culinary expert, Lori Hartnett.
